Biography

Bob Moses (born Robert Parris Moses) was an American civil rights activist and educator. He is best known for his role in the 1964 Mississippi Freedom Summer, during which he worked to register African Americans to vote. He also worked to create a network of freedom schools throughout the state. Despite facing considerable opposition and danger, Moses' efforts had a lasting impact on the civil rights movement and are still remembered today!

Moses grew up in Harlem, New York, where he attended public schools. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School in 1952, he went on to attend Hamilton College and Harvard University. While studying at Harvard, Moses was heavily influenced by philosopher-activist W.E.B Du Bois who inspired him to use his education as a tool for social change.

However, it wasn't until 1962 when Moses moved to Mississippi that his passion truly ignited! There, he encountered deep racial injustice firsthand - something that had only been abstract concepts before then. Working with grassroots community organizers like Ella Baker and others, Moses helped set up voter registration drives across the state and organized Freedom Summer events for young activists from all over America come together and work towards common goals of equality and justice. Despite being threatened by mobs of angry white supremacists many times during this period of time, Moses never gave up hope or wavered from his mission.

In 1970 Bob Moses became president of Algebra Project Inc., an organization dedicated to helping students in low-income communities learn math skills so they could better their lives through education. Ever since then he has continued working tirelessly for social justice causes around the world - inspiring millions along the way with his commitment and courage!

The legacy of Bob Moses will live forever as one of most important figures in civil rights history; a man whose dedication paved the way for generations after him to keep fighting for what's right!
